About Michelle Giovas
Why Vote for Me
I am standing again for Sherbourne Ward to make a difference.
I will
- be present, available and responsive
- listen and consult
- represent you and your views for better decision making and meaningful change.
I have lived in Banyule most of my life and grew up in the beautiful areas of Montmorency and Lower Plenty and I have also chosen to raise my family of three children in Banyule.
I am not and have never been a member of any political party.
I care about people and that our precious environment is protected. I will work hard for greater accountability and trust in Council with energy and integrity.
It was my privilege to be the 2023 Banyule Citizen of the Year awarded for my work on community and government policy consultative committees across Banyule.

- Our neighbourhoods are under threat from the State Government's proposed changes in planning
- I will advocate to preserve our neighbourhood character and liveability for local planning decisions that protect and enhance Sherbourne Ward’s unique character.

- Advocacy for better Big Build project design and reduced construction impacts adversely effecting air and our water way quality
- Action on Climate Change - help residents and businesses to become resillient to climate change extremes - heat stress and flooding
- Advocacy for best policy and practice for Biodiversity, Corporate Emissions Reduction and Climate Change adaptation.

- Footpaths replaced or properly fixed to remove the many dangerous tripping hazards
- Revitalisation of Lower Plenty shopping centre with better connection to and upgrading of the rear carpark with much needed new toilet facilities.
- Improved road safety – effective traffic calming measures on local road "rat runs", like Rosehill Rd, proper r
- Footpaths replaced or properly fixed to remove the many dangerous tripping hazards
